Pria Kataria collection: An epitome of East and West

Pria Kataria Puri is well known for blending the Oriental and Western cultures in the outfits she designs. She excels in colour and embroidery and these form an important role in all her collections. Pria Kataria uses a lot of hand trappings in wool threads along with mirror work, shells, beads, embroidery etc. Her designs are modern in appearance and Indian in expression.

Pria Kataria has had formal training in a polytechnic college in New Delhi and from FIDM, San Francisco. It is in the San Francisco fashion centre that Pria Kataria displayed her first collection of Occidental evening wear.

With regard to her design concepts Pria Kataria herself mentions that her label represents her multi cultural, multi role lifestyle of the woman of modern age. Pria Kataria adds that she wants to use her style as tools to enhance and express the beauty and personality of the modern Indian woman. According to Pria Kataria, the modern woman should have a multi-faceted wardrobe as she plays multiple roles in her life i.e. role of a home maker, role of a mother, role of a career woman and many more roles.

Pria Kataria designs apparels for cocktails, evening parties, weddings, brunches and etc. The apparel form is western and the designs and fabrics Indian. Pria Kataria's collection consists of kaftans, tunics, dresses, blouses and saris that glitter with mirror work and crystals along with silk tassels. The fabric used for these outfits are chiffons, silk, crepe, georgette, satin, velvet, satin and tulle that add to their elegance.

Pria Kataria believes it to be her duty to preserve Indian art and heritage of handicrafts made on materials. Pria Kataria is highly influenced by gypsies and the Egyptians and her collection represents sensuality with elegance. Her collections consist of luxurious feminine fabrics along with rustic colours and exquisite embroidery.

Pria Kataria's collections are available not only in India but also in the Middle East, USA and Europe. Her clientele include Paris Hitlon, Venessa Paradi, Princess Francoise, Queen Rania Jordan, Royalty of Kuwait, Emirates and Saudi Arabia and well known Bollywood personalities such as Aishwarya Rai, Priyanka Chopra, Katrina Kaif, Tabu, Raveena Tandon, Mahima Choudary and many more.
